If you evaluate NC State's recruiting needs for the class of 2016 then wide receiver certainly ranks right at the top of the list.
Greensboro (NC) Page wide receiver Diondre Overton is a four-star talent and someone the Pack would love to add to their roster. At 6-5, 195 pounds he is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. To date Clemson has led the way for his commitment with Tennessee right on their heels. That doesn't mean the Wolfpack is out if by any stretch according to Overton.
"I love State being that it's an in-state school. I mean, State's a great environment. I've visited there at least like five times. It's not like they're far back in the competition. Everyone is kind of together right now and there's not a lot of separation with any of the schools. So I just love everything about State.
"Coach White is recruiting me. They're telling me they need guys with size. They already have some speedsters so they need the size. That's what a lot of college coaches have mentioned. They like my size and that I move well at my size. They tell me I have sure hands and a lot of room to develop."
Overton has been adding new offers almost weekly and he mentioned a few that he hopes to visit and the ones he's heard from most recently.
"I'm hoping to take a visit to Michigan. Boston College has hit me up. Nebraska has been there. NC State, of course. There's so many offers. It's hard to name them all. I've got 18 offers right now."
One factor that's been discussed concerning Overton is his basketball ability. Some have mentioned that could have an impact on his football recruiting. At least for now, he says basketball will not factor into his decision.
"It would be nice to particpate in basketball at the college I go to but that's not going to be a key factor because I'm going to stay focused on football."
