NC State could have potentially as many as five scholarships available for the 2016 recruiting class so the Wolfpack's pursuing several targets in Scout.com's updated list of top 100 prospects, which has been released.
Among those targets is elite point guard Dennis Smith, who is rated the No. 4 prospect and the No. 1 point guard in the class. Smith, who hails from Fayetteville (NC), is the Wolfpack's top target in the recruiting class, as there is a critical need in landing an elite point guard with Cat Barber potentially leaving after the 2015-2016 season.
NC State, Louisville, Kansas, Duke, and North Carolina are just some of the schools pursuing Smith.
Two other Pack targets made the top ten: Kobi Simmons (No. 5 overall, No. 2 PG) and Josh Langford (No. 10, No. 2 SG). NC State is in pursuit of both standouts but is likely considered a longshot at this point.
NC State has three other long-time targets in the Top 25, with Rawle Alkins (No. 20, No. 4 SG), Markelle Fultz (No. 23, No. 5 SG), and Edrice Adebayo (No. 25, No. 3 C) making the cut. Of the trio, NC State's likely in the best shape with Adebayo, an in-state target that has been on the Wolfpack's radar for a very long time.
NC State is also in the mix for Maverick Rowan (No. 27, No. 8 SF), who recently cut his list to six schools: UCLA, St. John's, UNC, NC State, Wisconsin, and Louisville.
Other notable current and potential NC State targets on Scout.com's Top 100 list include: Josh Jackson (No. 2), Mustapha Heron (No. 16), Terrance Ferguson (No. 17), Tony Bradley (No. 35), Trevor Stanback (No. 67), James Banks (No. 71), Robert Williams (No. 76), Devearl Ramsey (No. 79), Jaylen Fisher (No. 80), and Curtis Jones (No. 94).
