Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Dillard linebacker Kenneth Ruff has learned a lot about a lot of schools because many have offered. NC State’s offer is one of the latest to come down the pike and it is one he is taking great interest in.
Ruff said NC State’s offer was in late May so he has had just about six weeks to think about the Wolfpack as a program that has offered. In the meantime he has been keeping up with coaches from other schools who have also had long relationships with him. It is not like NC State is a totally new possibility to Ruff. He has thought about the school for a long time in a different respect.
For many months NC State was a school that might offer. They had not yet.
“They were recruiting me pretty heavily for the last year or so. They came through in the spring and saw some things they liked. They came through again during one of our evening practices and that’s when they offered me. It was the defensive line coach that came through first and I can’t remember the other. I think it was the receivers coach.”
Neither would be coaching Ruff if he picks NC State but the staff has one message and they have stayed on point.
“It’s been kind of quiet with them since they offered but they send me things through the mail and things like that.”
Ruff does not know as much about NC State as some others because he has not visited. Even though he has not talked to any of the assistant coaches much recently he said it is a visit he still wants to make.
“That’s a visit I will take. That’s going to be one of my official visits. I know that. I think Clemson, South Carolina and maybe North Carolina will be the others.”
Ruff (6-2, 236) attended the The Opening’s regional in Miami and did well. One month ago he singled out South Carolina as a favorite and his plans for official visits imply the Gamecocks are still a program he likes.
