"Our team went 1-4, but I thought I played well," said Painter. "I averaged 12 points and shot 70% so that was pretty efficient. I think I had five rebounds a game too."
The 6-foot-10, 230-pounder knows that he has strengths and weaknesses.
"Well, my strengths are my basketball IQ, toughness, and versatility," he said. "My weaknesses are probably my ballhandling. I need to work on that."
Painter, who averaged 17.8 points per game as a junior, has added a couple of offers since the start of the Peach Jam.
"Providence offered me I think three days ago," he said. "NC State just offered me a scholarship [Sunday]. The coaches called and offered me a scholarship. They saw me play in the Peach Jam and thought I did really well.
"They just said they were going to call me later with even more specifics, but they wanted me to be a part of the Wolfpack. The head coach did tell me he thought I could shoot and he likes forwards that can shoot and are versatile."
What does Painter know about NC State?
"Honestly, I don't know too much, and they just started recruiting me," he stated. "I know they are in the ACC which is one of the best conferences in the country. I saw their upset this year against Villanova, and I watched some of their games against Duke and North Carolina."
The Wolfpack joined a long list of schools that have offered Painter.
"I have 28 offers," he said. "The main ones are from Xavier, Iowa, Penn State, Rhode Island, Northwestern, George Washington, St. Joe's, NC State, and Providence."
One school under consideration that hasn't offered is Villanova.
"They are recruiting me," said Painter. "They've got one commitment now but said they are going to watch me this month to see how I play."
Painter has already taken official visits to Xavier and Iowa, and he plans to take an official visit to Penn State and two other schools following the July Evaluation Period.
Does he have a timeframe for a decision?
"I don't have a leader," he said. "I don't have a specific date, but I want to do it sometime before the high school season starts."
This week he will be participating in the Victor Oladipo/Ty Lawson All-American Camp.
Dylan Painter is currently rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
UPDATE: Clemson and Pittsburgh have now offered Painter.
