Miller Headed To NC State

Ft. Pierce (FL) John Carroll standout linebacker Brock Miller has committed to NC State.

NC State landed a huge commitment tonight from Ft. Pierce (FL) John Carroll linebacker Brock Miller.

"I’m excited and honored to announce that I am joining the Wolfpack," Miller told TCPalm. "I’m verbally committing to play college football at North Carolina State University. Their slogan is 1 Pack, 1 Goal and I’m all in.

"From a football standpoint, they play in the Atlantic Coast Conference. I think it’s the best conference out there. Every team is so balanced, so you don’t just have one powerhouse and I like that.

"Coach Dave Doeren, my new coach at N.C. State, told me that the ACC Atlantic Division had more NFL Draft picks (31) this year than any other conference division. It just shows it’s the best opportunity for me to get to the next level — or maybe I should say the next, next level. After all, I do have one year of high school football left."

Miller visited NC State last week and had a chance to talk more with the Wolfpack coaches about their linebacker situation.

"They ran a 4-2-5 last year but he wants to get back to a 4-3," Miller told Pack Pride. "Last year he was really short on linebackers so he couldn’t run a 4-3. He’s trying to get more linebackers in there so he wants me as an outside linebacker on the weak side of the field. He would use me a lot to attack the quarterback coming off the edge and attacking on blitzes.

"It would allow him to match me up with tight ends and receivers in coverage as well. He is definitely looking for me to do those things for them."

Miller held over 20+ offers before recently cutting his list to NC State, Virginia Tech, California, Virginia, and Kentucky. He also received offers from Miss. State, Boise State, and Wake Forest among others.

The three-star prospect totaled 118 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and nine sacks last season.

"Miller is a headhunter off the edge that shows good closing speed and pursuit," says Recruiting Analyst Corey Bender. "The outside linebacker is disruptive at the line of scrimmage and has active hands when disengaging off blockers as well.

"He plays with a ton of physicality and is an impressive athlete at the linebacker position. Heart and effort will never be a problem with this Sunshine State native. Miller holds his ground and could find himself playing with his hand in the dirt at defensive before it's all said and done."

Pack Pride will have more on Miller's commitment so stay tuned!
