Doeren: "They Are Really Excited"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media after Wednesday's practice.

"I expect what they normally do. They bring five every play and sometimes six... you can call it a Bear Front blitz, they blitz every play.  If they play their 4-2, it's mixed."

"Their MIKE adds in a lot... it something you have to handle when you play Virginia Tech."

"Potentially, I think they've had a great week of practice. They have three all-conference defensive linemen, so they are going to play some really good players.  I'm excited to watch them compete against them."

"We're planning to see both.  Obviously Brewer threw the ball for a lot of yards a year ago and started pretty well in his first game this year. We anticipate that if he's in there the passing game will be a little more like it used to be."

"If he's not, we know what the other quarterback is going to do. There's a lot of formations and motions... they'll uptempo you and run the quarterback. We have to be prepared for a lot of things."

"Obviously everybody was disappointed on Sunday, and you should be when you're hurting a little bit.  All of us are excited about playing Friday night on ESPN against a great football team."

"It's been a spirited week of practice.  They are really excited to play this game."

"Alex Barr is back so we've got a better situation. Alex is back and we've built depth there now with the ability to play Tyler Jones and Bradbury.  It's better than it was a week ago."

"[Justin Jones] and Kentavius all season have played off each other. I think there's been games where Kentavius has made more plays than Justin and vice versa. It's nice to have that kind of depth there."

"They list him at tight end, but he's really a receiver with what they do. He's a very good football player in space and has good ball skills. They double-move you a lot with him, and obviously if you have good coverage on a tall guy they can make a play.  It's a lot like Grinnage for us. Our guys see a body type like that in practice everyday."

"I think our d-line needs to be disruptive. We had 14 tackles in the backfield last week and we need to continue with that."
