A cornerback recently offered by the Wolfpack says an official visit to NC State is now looking likely.
Nick McCloud has five official visits to use however he wants to use them just as long as the schools he wants to visit agree and are willing to host him on those visits. Northwestern has offered. Kansas State has offered. As major conference members those schools immediately look like places that could host him at some point.
McCloud (6'0.5, 173) doesn't have an official visit schedule just yet but he does know where he'll be making an unofficial visit. He'll be at NC State on Oct 31 for the Pack's matchup with Clemson.
"NC State offered me last Thursday," said McCloud. "They like the way I play football. They like that I play physical and they like how I tackle well and cover. I'm fast too. I had to call Coach Doeren over the phone. I think he offered me off my senior season highlight film."
He does not know what other visits he might take. That does not mean that NC State is the far and away favorite but it does mean the Pack is in the conversation. The South Pointe cornerback has other offers from App State, East Carolina, Marshall, Buffalo, Charlotte, Eastern Michigan, James Madison and Miami of Ohio.
It helps that he has been to NC State before. McCloud didn't camp at the school this summer but he did make an appearance at the Wolfpack spring game before that.
"I liked it. I liked the coaching staff a lot at NC State. I have a lot of interest in them. I wouldn't say I have a favorite or anything but I like them a lot."
Much earlier this year McCloud visited Auburn and some other schools in the south, but NC State is the first school from the ACC or SEC to offer him.
