Doeren: "I Take Ownership"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media after the loss to North Carolina.

"They played really well."

"We didn't score enough or stop them enough to win the game, and I'm disappointed for our seniors."

"Obviously the first quarter I take ownership of. We weren't ready. We weren't setting the edge or tackling."

"We made some adjustments... guys kept battling but we didn't score enough to win the game."

"I take ownership in making sure the seniors feel the way they should feel on Senior Day. I know our players wanted to play well."

"When you give up 300+ rushing, and I know we had 300+ as well, but when you give up that much it's hard to win the game."

"We didn't execute and play with good fundamentals in the first quarter. I take ownership for that."

"I told them to keep playing and not to look at the scoreboard. It's the same thing I told them last year."

"I thought our players did a really good job of hanging in there."

"We made adjustments throughout the game."

"We played hard, we played really hard.  He threw for 200 and rushed for 128. He played like he always does."

"That's what his legacy will be here. He is a very competitive guy and plays as hard as he can."
