Were Big Plays Really The Major Problem?
On the surface, this was the MAJOR issue for NC State's defense.
Now, we're in an age of college football where big plays happen... a lot. Watch any game and you'll likely find a high-scoring contest with plenty of explosive plays and long touchdowns.
Scoring and offense is up as no-huddle, prolific spread offenses are the new rage. In 2008 20 college programs averaged over 34 points per game. 40 schools topped the mark (NC State was actually No. 41 at 33.7 points per game) this season
