Locker Room Report: Wolfpack Players

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Several Wolfpack players met with the media to discuss the Belk Bowl loss.

"I mean, he made checks, you know. He put the defense off balance and threw the deep ball very well."

"No, I knew he was a good runner, and I knew he was going to throw the deep ball very well."

"I mean, it sucks, but you never want to lose to anybody--especially a game that can change a program--you know, a game we could won if nine things didn’t happen."

"I would say we didn’t win the turnover battle, especially in the rain. You have to win the turnover battle to win games like this."

"You have to learn from it. You know, you have to eat it, eat it for a good couple of  months. And next year you have to change people’s mentality about them. I wish the best for them and I think they will get much better."

"I" felt like we really came a long way since our last game against Carolina. I thought we got back to the basics and worked hard for this game. Obviously, it didn’t go our way. I am excited for the future of this team. The young guys bring a lot of talent to this team."

That’s definitely always working against the turnover margin. Coming into this game, I think we were plus-10. We are plus-seven now. It’s always a big part of the game, turnovers, and we can’t have them. Defense needs to create more but yeah, we’re working on it."

"I don’t want to say it’s shocking because defense has to go back on the field and our job is to stop them from scoring. We didn’t do our part and it was a team effort. Everyone has to do their part."

"We did a good job, we have to play better. I have to do a better job in putting us in the right protection. We did some good things, did some bad things but hats off to them. They did a great job. This group has to get ready to play next year."

"No, that was the right play. He made a good play on the ball. I just have to do a better job of taking care of the ball and understanding the situation. I think both interceptions hurt us a lot. They got points off of those drives. We can’t do that to start the game off, or during the game at all. We fought. We didn’t give up and that’s all that really matters."

"You know, it’s been fun. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Being there with that group of guys, it’s been a pleasure and I am thankful for what they have done for me. I am really going to miss these guys."

"They were a really physical unit. Give credit to them. They had a great gameplan. They played fast and physical."

"We were able to move the ball in spurts but we couldn’t finish a lot of drives. That was tough."

"Half the time we don’t even know who is back there. We just try to do our best as an offensive line. We got into a little rhythm here and there but we couldn’t sustain it for four quarters, which was the problem. We block for anyone who is back there regardless of who it is."

"We didn’t come out on top like we wanted to. The one play was fun though. Being back on offense feels good. Me and Coach Canada talked about that play before I even moved to tight end."

"I kind of felt like I was going to play. They had a couple of packages for me. "

"Next season, we have a few seniors. They didn’t go out on top as we hoped. Us young guys, the returning players, we have just got to come back and go to work."

"It could. At NC State, we are just going to come to work in the offseason and when those games come we have to be ready."

"It made us lose a little bit of our momentum. We wanted to come out and start fast. It wasn’t meant to happen. Jacoby just turned around. The D-End was right in his face and he just tried to get rid of the ball. The linebacker just made a great play."

"I was trying to tell them I was getting open a couple of times. With the weather conditions it was kind of hard to throw the ball very deep. We were just trying to do the best we could do. "

"It is definitely going to help us going into next year. Mississippi State is a very good football team. They are big up front. They have got a lot of speed. They are coached very well. Going into next year, it is going to give us a good advantage for the teams that are coming in."
