It took a little longer than expected but on Saturday evening, Rock Hill (SC) South Pointe cornerback Nick McCloud commited to NC State over Georgia Tech, UCLA and Vanderbilt. Originally all signs pointed to McCloud committing to the Pack back in December but he opted to explore all of his options before deciding that Raleigh would be his future home for the next four or five years.
Cornerback was a big need for NC State in the class of 2016 with the Pack placing an emphasis on size and length. McCloud (6-1, 175 pounds) fit the mold perfectly of what the Wolfpack was targeting.
As a senior McCloud had 75 tackles, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles and scored seven touchdowns while helping lead lead South Pointe to a 13-1 record and its second consecutive state title. He was recently named to the all-state first team by USA Today. McCloud is rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com
Pack Pride will have much more on the Pack's most recent commitment so stay tuned!
