Recruiting Scene: NC State, UNC, South Carolina and Tennessee all made early offers to Valdez but it was recruiting coordinator Des Kitchings that really connected. Valdez made an early 2015 visit to NC State and that visit was enough to put an early end to his recruiting.

Why NC State? “I decided to go ahead and do it now because I wanted to get recruiting out of the way. I visited recently and I liked the campus and they have a great football program and academics. Coach Kitchings was recruiting me and we have a good relationship.”

Scouting Report: “James is a very explosive player. He has the capabilities of making the big play. He’s a guy that I think still has untapped potential that once he finally reaches it, I kind of put him in that category of the Deions (Sanders) and those type guys. He’s a really solid player that can make plays on any point on the field”- Lake Marion High School head coach Chris Carter
