Recruiting Scene: CJ Riley was offered by NC State back in April 2015.  The Wolfpack became Riley’s seventh offer joining Pitt and WVU as his Power 5 Offers.  Riley would go on to collect scholarship offers from Duke, Kentucky, Rutgers, Georgia Tech and his parent’s alma mater Nebraska.

Riley made two trips to NC State over the summer of 2015—once for camp and once as part of a college road trip he went on which included stops at Nebraska, Kentucky, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt and Duke.  Before committing Riley took Official Visits to both Nebraska and NC State and then made the call to Coach Doeren in late November 2015.

Why NC State? "I liked the campus- beautiful campus. They have a nice indoor practice facility, practice field. It's a nice state. State has been talking to me since the middle of the season last year. They've been talking to me ever since. Coach McDonald recruited me. He's a nice guy. He wants me to do my best and pushes me a lot and bring the best out of me."

Picked NC State Over: Nebraska, West Virginia, Duke, Kentucky and many others

Scouting Report: "Riley has added some size over the last six months and is the type player that will create matchup issues for opposing defenses. He has a surprising burst after the catch and Riley's foot speed in small spaces is deceptively quick.Riley is a long strider but has the ability to get around defenders. He has reliable hands but is probably most dangerous high pointing the ball against smaller defensive backs where he can take advantage of his size. Riley certainly has the skill set and talent to see the field as a freshman at NC State."- Pack Pride Recruiting Analyst Steve Williams
