Anthony "Cat" Barber is one of 35 players named to the midseason watch list for the Naismith Trophy, which is awarded to the player of the year in college basketball. Barber currently leads the ACC and stands sixth nationally in scoring with 23.5 points per game.

Barber, a 6-2 junior point guard from Newport News, Va., is having a season rarely seen in college basketball. He is on pace to become the second player in ACC history to average 23 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, joining former Georgia Tech player Kenny Anderson.

Additionally, Barber leads the league in free throws made and is fourth in free throw percentage while playing a league-high 38.7 minutes per game. He has played at least 40 minutes in 12 games this season, often facing double-team and gimmick defenses geared to stop him.

Barber has been voted ACC Player of the Week three times this season and leads the conference in 20-point games (16) and 30-point games (6).

Barber is one of eight players from ACC schools to be included on the Naismith watch list, joining: Duke's Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram, Virginia's Malcolm Brogdon, Miami's Sheldon McClellan, Notre Dame's Demetrious Jackson, Louisville's Damion Lee and UNC's Brice Johnson.

NC State will host Wake Forest Saturday, Feb. 13 at PNC Arena at noon
