Alston Lands NC State offer

Defensive End will be a focal point for the NC State coaching staff in the class of 2017 and they extended an offer to one of North Carolina's fastest rising prospects in DE Taijh Alston.

Cameron (NC) Union Pines defensive end Taijh Alston has seen his stock take off lately. After early offers from East Carolina from Charlotte, Alston landed a scholarship from NC State on Saturday with Miami (Ohio) following suit on Monday. Union Pines isn't a school that's known for producing FBS talent so it's taken a little longer for word to get out on Alston. However, at 6-5, 225 pounds it's safe to say he'll build on the four offers he's landed so far.

Alston has attended a couple of Wolfpack junior days with the most recent coming this past Saturday. That trip proved to be a big one as Alston was told of his offer from State and he talked about it with Pack Pride.

"It was very exciting because I just love the program. Coach Doeren brought me and my dad in his office after junior day and he told me he was impressed with my film and wanted to offer me a scholarship. It was a happy moment and just have to keep working.

"I just like the brotherhood they've got. It's just like a family. The atmosphere, the facilities, I just love everything about it. On game day, when I went when they played Louisville, it was pouring down rain. It was still packed and that's the type environment I want be around."

An all-region and all-conference performer as a junior, Alston finished 2015 with 77 tackles, eight sacks and 15 tackles for loss.

Alston plans to graduate early and because of that, has an accelerated timeline for making a commitment. Right now, he has three schools at the top of his list with a decision likely in the next few months.

"I would say my top three are Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest.

"Since I'm graduating early I plan to make my decision before school ends, probably in late May."
