NC State landed a huge commitment today from Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek standout defensive tackle Grant Gibson.
Gibson spoke with Pack Pride about choosing the Wolfpack.
"It's been on my mind for a long time," he said. "I just talked it over with my parents and knew it was the right time. NC State is the right school for me, and I'm proud to be a part of the Pack."
NC State opened spring practice today and Gibson called the Wolfpack coaches to give them the news.
"I told coach Faulkner, my area recruiting coach first," said Gibson. "He gave the phone to the defensive coaches first and then coach Doeren... I told him I wanted to be a part of the Wolfpack. He was happy... they were all hyped up. It felt good to feel that energy from them."
A three-star recruit, Gibson picked NC State over offers from Tennessee, West Virginia, Colorado State, Louisville, and Georgia Tech among others. The 6-foot-1, 300-pound defensive tackle gave the impression that picking NC State was an easy decision for him.
"I'm going to be honest, I don't know who came in second," he said. "I just felt the love from State. Really, it was State the whole time for me."
Pack Pride will have more on Gibson's decision in the near future so stay tuned!
