Locker Room Report: Wolfpack Players

WASHINGTON, DC -- Several NC State players met with the media after the loss to Duke.

"We showed the fight we had."

"The amount of effort that we put in to try and compete at the highest level possible."

"We ended up falling short."

"They did a great job of executing and getting great shots for them down the stretch."

"It's a big offseason... we can build on what happened today and try to prevent it from happening next year."

"It's always fun for my team and teammates as well... at the end of the day it's a game and it should be fun.  If you're not having fun you shouldn't be playing at all."

"We fought the entire year. We fell short a few times, but we never gave up, and we never will give up."

"We should have, but we didn't. We were only a few possessions away... just a few."

"On that play, me and Cody, we felt like we stayed straight up, but you can't leave it up to the refs to decide the game. We should have to put ourselves in better position."

"We hung with them. I feel like the game was definitely winnable.   I feel like we should be in the locker room as victors, not losers."

"A bunch of high character guys who never gave up, and they are going to continue to keep fighting and keep working. That's where we're going from here."

"Just remember how hard we worked, and that we never gave up, no matter what position it was."

"We just kept fighting and pushing forward."

"It always hurts to lose.  This only... even we had the shot at the end to go to OT. There were a lot of factors in that game."

"Every possession is important."

"That's basketball."

"We're proud of Cat.  He's done his job the whole year. He played almost every minute this season and played at a high level."

"He did his job for us every night out. We're happy to have him."

"A lot of different guys, it was a balanced effort, but you always want to win."

"Get better, there's always room for improvement as a team. We're only getting older, wiser, and better."

"There's bright things to come for this team."

"It's kind of hurting right now."

"It was a play call for Mav to get to the three. He was open so I had to create.  I drove... I saw Plumlee collapse, and I tried to dish it to B, I don't know what... if he dropped the ball or whatever. Coach said I made a great play, it was the right play.  It didn't go as we expected."

"We're trying to win. I feel like we played great the whole game. We never let down... I think both teams played well. We just couldn't get over the hump at the end."

"That's not... that's something I'm going to have to sit on and think about with my family first."

"I'm going to try and get healthy first... I'm going to talk with my family, talk with my coaches, and go from there. I can't give you an answer right now."

"I kind of was. I was going to my right and dribbling with my left because it was hurting, but I wasn't trying to use that for an excuse."

"A little bit, but I tried to play through it. I hit two free throws, I hit the three... I was trying to play through it."

"I don't think I have good luck with them. I always get hurt playing Duke in some kind of way."

"I'm proud of my team. We never let down, and we fought the whole game. We had chances to win. We just couldn't pull through."

"I'm happy with the effort."

"With our record being what it is, we came out and played like we have a winning record."

"He just was telling us that the most important thing he wants us to do is get healthy right now... Cody, Mav, Me, all the other guys.  He wants us to get healthy."
