According to a source close to the situation, NC State junior guard Cat Barber will remain in the 2016 NBA Draft. Barber will begin the process of selecting his representation in the near future.
The source indicated that Barber has notified the NC State coaching staff of his decision.
"Cat has told coach Gottfried that he intends to stay in," said the source. "The next step now is selecting an agent and that's where he's at right now."
Barber, a first-team All-ACC selection, averaged 23.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists as a junior. Early draft projections have Barber pegged as a potential second-round pick, but he could improve his stock through individual workouts and the NBA Draft combine.
UPDATE: Cat Barber has confirmed the report via text message.
"I feel like it's time for me to move on and take my game to the next level. I want to be able to provide for my family. I enjoyed my time at NC State. I want to thank my coaches for giving me the opportunity. Most importantly I want to thank my teammates and the fans. I want everyone to know I gave it 100% every night. I will forever be a part of WPN."
