NC State was scheduled to have no fewer than four linebacker prospects on campus today. That underscored the Wolfpack's need at that position. One of those that attended was Palm Beach Gardens (FL) Dwyer standout Raven Saunders (6-2, 215 pounds). He has had the Pack at the top of his list for awhile and after seeing NC State in person for the first time, decided Raleigh was where he wanted to spend his college career.
"I committed to NC State this afternoon," said Saunders. "I really liked the campus a lot.I liked the coaching staff. They were honest and straight forward with me. I just liked what I saw and I was ready to wrap it up."
State has been on Saunders for a while with two defensive coaches heading up the Pack's recruiting efforts.
"Coach Huxtable and coach Nielsen have been recruiting me. I really liked that they were really straight forward with me and they were honest the whole time and I could just really see myself playing there."
"This was my first time coming to State and it was very nice. I liked that they had their own football facilities. I loved the campus. I just liked everything about it."
Despite holding offers from Indiana, UNC, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Temple and Florida Atlantic, Saunders said he's happy with his decision and done with recruiting.
"I'm locked in with NC State. I'm done with recruiting. I was ready to shut it down."
