Pack Checks In On Four-Star Wideout OrTre Smith

NC State recently checked in on four-star wide receiver OrTre Smith but will have to beat an impressive list of schools if they hope to add him to the class of 2017.

Mt Pleasant (SC) Wando wideout OrTre Smith has emerged as one of the most sought after wideouts in the southeast. Boasting offers from schools like Florida State, Clemson, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Georgia, UNC and Wake Forest, Smith has earned a four-star rating from who also considers him to be the No. 28 wide receiver in the nation.

NC State has also offered and is working to land on his top five list when Smith releases it sometime in May. Pack Pride caught up with the rising senior for the latest.

“My latest offers came from Ole Miss and NC State. Coach Kitchings, he came in last Thursday. I had track practice and he came and watched me. They offered me. I visited State about two months ago, something like that. It’s pretty big there. I didn’t get a whole feel for the school. My mom went with me. Coach Kitchings has mentioned to me about coming back so I’ll talk to my coach and more than likely I’ll be back up.”

With the spring evaluation period in full swing, Smith(6-4, 210 pounds) has been hearing quite a bit from schools hoping to land him in the class of 2017.

“South Carolina hits me a up a lot- Georgia, Clemson’s starting to pick up a little more, UNC, Wake Forest and coach Kitchings- he keeps up with me on social media. Coach Spurrier, he’s at Oklahoma now so he’s started to message me a little bit.”

Smith has family ties to Clemson but says that will have no effect on where he ultimately decides to go to college.

“Growing up I was a Clemson fan because my mom went to Clemson but as of right now it doesn’t matter to me.”

Smith added that as of right now he does not have any favorites.
