Pack Out Front For Person

Franklinton's Ricky Person is one of 2018's top prospects and NC State is the team to beat currently.

Franklinton's Ricky Person may be a 2018 prospect but he's already emerged as one of the most sought-after players in North Carolina and that interest will likely continue to grow in the coming months.

One thing colleges love about Person is his versatility. At 6-2, 200 pounds he has great size for a player that's yet to complete his sophomore year. In 2015 he tallied 1,075 yards and ten touchdowns rushing while adding an additional six touchdowns receiving. Person has the skill set to play running back, receiver, defensive back or linebacker on the next level.  Person recently told Pack Pride he could see himself playing on either side of the ball in college.

"I see myself going to college and playing a little slot (receiver) or maybe safety. Most schools are recruiting me to play as an athlete. I know where ever they put me at I'm going to play hard so it really doesn't matter to me."

To date East Carolina, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Appalachian State and Charlotte have offered but NC State was the first and they're the team everyone else is chasing,

"Right now I'd say NC State is my top school and then Duke is right behind them. The reason State is on top is the relationship I have with the coaches, really. I don't just talk to coach Kitchings. I really talk to the whole coaching staff, including the head coach so I really feel the love at NC State."

"ECU is my other school I'm really looking at and I like the coaching staff they have there. The head coach, coach Montgomery, he's been to the league so he knows what it takes to get to the league and that's the kind of coach I want pushing me."

There had been talk of Person possibly making a decision this summer but he confirmed that his choice is still quite a ways away.

"I probably won't make my decision until the start of my senior season."

Person plans to visit Clemson over the summer and potentially camp at Wake Forest.
