He's yet to complete his sophomore year but already, Dinwiddie (VA) ATH K'Vaughan Pope has become one of the top prospects in the state of Virginia.
At 6-2, 215 pounds Pope has college-ready size and he established himself as a an FBS-caliber player with his play on both sides of the ball in 2015. He finished the year with 39 catches for 654 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, he had 40 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, five pass breakups, a fumble recovery and blocked field goal.
Virginia was the first to offer followed by NC State. The Pack has consistently been mentioned as the team recruiting Pope the hardest and it's a school he's become quite familiar with.
"Actually Virginia was my first offer but when I got the offer from State I was really happy. It was on my birthday week and I was excited about that one.
"They have good facilities. I've been there plenty of times. I like the way their field house is with the locker room. Coach Barlow and I, we have a great relationship. We talk back and forth all the time. I would say State is recruiting me the hardest right now."
Pope is in no rush to make a decision and for good reason. Alabama has been showing interest and Clemson recently offered, joining South Carolina and Syracuse.
Pope added that he doesn't have any favorites currently but he did grow up a fan of Florida.
