Wake Forest (NC) High School four-star defensive lineman Xach Gill has seen his recruitment explode this spring.
"I have I believe 17 total offers," said Gill. "NC State, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, UNC, Tennessee, UCLA, Penn State, and Pittsburgh... that's some of them.
"I've been able to visit the local schools this spring and during the season I visited Florida and Georgia. I definitely want to take more trips."
One of the schools that Gill has visited the most is NC State. Just minutes away from his home, he is very familiar with the Wolfpack.
"It's a family-oriented place," he said. "I love the campus and the coaches, and the players are all great. Coach Kitchings is recruiting me for them, and we talk a lot. We do have a strong relationship."
Gill has also remained in contact with NC State defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen. What has Nielsen been stressing to Gill about the Wolfpack?
"Coach Nelsen says he likes my body type for defensive linemen," said Gill. "He told me that he thinks I could be an impact player for them if I went there and that they want all of the defensive linemen to be able to make plays... I like that."
The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder plans on taking trips to UCLA and Penn State by the start of the season, and he has a plan in place for narrowing down his list.
"I'll probably announce my Top 10 right before the season," he said. "The schools I talk to the most... on a weekly basis I talk to UCLA, NC State, and Mississippi State."
What will Gill be looking for in a school when the time comes to make a decision?
"I'll be looking for how I can impact," he stated. "I also will be looking at the academics and what is the best fit."
