NC State To Face Illinois In ACC/Big Ten Challenge

The NC State men’s basketball team will travel to Illinois on November 29 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, the league announced on Tuesday.

The match-up will be the first between the two in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, the Wolfpack’s first visit to the State Farm Center, and to Champaign.


The teams have met three times previously, most recently in 1995 at the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu. NC State is 0-3 all-time against Illinois.


The Illini, coming off a 15-19 season, return leading scorer Malcolm Hill who averaged 18.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last season.


The tip-time and broadcast information will be released in August.


NC State prepares for the 2016-17 season with a mix of returning contributors and anticipated additions. Last week Abdul-Malik Abu and BeeJay Anya announced their intentions to return, joining a healthy Terry Henderson, Maverick Rowan and Shaun Kirk.


The Wolfpack added recent signees Darius Hicks and Omer Yurtseven to go along with Torin Dorn, who sat out last season after transferring from Charlotte, and Dennis Smith Jr., who has been on campus since January.


Additional opponents and dates for the 2016-17 season will be announced later this summer.
