RALEIGH, NC –Second verse, same as the first.
Once again, NC State will have to come back and finish a game that is late in the contest. This time, it will be for all the marbles.
NC State leads Coastal Carolina, 5-3, with one out in the ninth inning of its winner-take-all contest. A rain delay, the third of the day, caused the NCAA to rule that the game would resume at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Doak Field at Dail Park. The Chanticleers have the bases loaded with designated hitter G.K. Young at the plate.
The Wolfpack has righty Evan Brabrand, the sixth NC State pitcher of the game, on the mound.
This comes on the heels of the two teams having their first matchup on Saturday suspended due to inclement weather. In that game, Coastal defeated the Wolfpack, 4-0. Earlier Sunday, NC State defeated the Chanticleers, 8-1, to set up the championship game. The game was scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. but was delayed due to rain prior to the start.
