Name: Jacobe Clement
School: Mallard Creek
Notes: NC State landed a huge commitment on Sunday when Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek cornerback Jacobe Clement picked the Wolfpack.
"NC State was the first school to offer me, and since then I felt the same about them," said Clement. "When it came down to it, I decided to commit and shut it down... made that decision. NC State felt like home."
Clement was in Raleigh camping with the Wolfpack when he made his decision, and he also showcased his ability for the coaching staff. At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, he has terrific size for the cornerback position and is a ballhawk.
"Clement is a long, athletic cornerback with good range," said Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Michael Clark. "He's comfortable in both man and zone coverage. Clement is smooth in and out of his backpedal. He also has good closing speed and ball skills.
"He need to continue to add weight and get stronger, but he has big upside and bright future."
As a junior, he played for South Meck but has transferred to Mallard Creek for his senior season where he will team up with fellow Wolfpack commitment Grant Gibson.
Clement is rated the No. 39 cornerback in the country by Scout.com, and he really burst on the scene last summer when he camped at several schools which led to offers from Clemson, Tennessee, Duke, WVU, Louisville, UNC, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest among others. NC State was the first school to offer Clement a scholarship, as the Wolfpack did so during his sophomore year.
