High-major offers are pouring in for three-star shooter Thomas Allen

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va - Shooting guard Thomas Allen is one of the best long range marksmen in the country, and offers continue to come in with two schools having already secured official visits.

Shooting is in high demand these days in college basketball and one of the best at that particular skill in the 2017 class is Thomas Allen. The native of North Carolina has shown that in a big way at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, and now he is receiving significant recruiting attention.

“This spring went really good,” said Allen of his spring. “I got a lot of offers and interest. I did pretty well on the adidas circuit. I had a good spring, and the team qualified for the adidas finale, so it was good.”

He continued, “I have just been focused on shooting off of pick and rolls and things like that.”

When it comes to his recruitment things are beginning to get more crowded by the day as high-major offers keep piling in.

“NC State, St. Louis, Texas A&M, Xavier, Nebraska, and I’ve been hearing from VCU, Monmouth, Ohio State, and I heard from Kansas right before I came to the camp,” noted Allen.

With a constantly expanding list of offers Allen has more and more schools to choose from, but already he knows two of his visits.

“I am going to Saint Louis on August 2 and Texas A&M in September,” said Allen.

About the visit to Saint Louis, Allen said, “They just want me to come in and play the point guard role on that team and see the campus and what they have to offer.”

When it comes to Texas A&M he added, “Texas A&M is in the SEC which is a good league. They want me to come in and be a scorer who stretches the floor and leads the team.”

Close to home NC State came through with an offer a week ago, and Allen says it was big for him to pick that up.

“That offer was really good to get,” explained Allen. “They’ve been watching me for a long time. When I went on the visit I wasn’t expecting an offer, but I got one so that was good.”

For now Allen’s plan is to play things out through July and see what schools are in the mix before issuing a commitment.
