How does it feel to be a part of the NBPA Top 100 Camp?
It is a blessing. I am just thankful for everything. Where I am from, to be invited to such a prestigious camp is a big blessing to me. I thank whoever invited me.
What type of things have you learned at camp?
Mostly, to take pride on defense. That is mainly what we have done lately.
Where do you stand in recruiting right now?
I have 40 scholarships offered, but I just trimmed my list to 15 schools. I will be taking my visits soon. I will definitely be taking a visit to NC State, Seton Hall, Kansas, and a few other schools.
What is it about NC State that stands out to you?
I like NC State because I have a good relationship with Coach Gottfried. He says that I can come right in and do my thing. That is what everybody wants as a freshman, is to come right in and play.
How much do you know about the team?
What I know about the team is Cat Barber, the one that just entered the draft, he had a very good season. They stuck with him since he was a freshman. Now he is about to go to the NBA. That is my goal. I want to be in the NBA.
Don't you also talk to Coach Schroyer?
Yep. I talk to Coach Schroyer. Coach Schroyer came to a few of my games. That was a great feeling. We have a really good relationship.
What are your summer plans?
I am going to take my visits. That is mainly my plan. Mainly I just want to work on my weaknesses. Hopefully I will narrow my next list down to about seven. Who is definitely on the next cut is NC State, Kansas and Kentucky. They are the only three I know right now.
Do you have a timetable for making a decision?
I might be making my decision after the AAU season. I am going to have a nice conversation with my family.
Who will you look to for guidance when you are making your decision?
My mother and my dad. They are the only people that I talk to. We have long conversations about which school is the best fit and who is recruiting who.
In terms of basketball, academically and campus-wise what are you looking for in a school?
I am just looking for a school that is a overall fit for me, including basketball and books.
My mom takes pride in books -- mom has a Master's (Coppin State) -- and she takes academics very serious.
My main goal is to be a pro. I want to be a NBA player. That is what I have been wanting since I was eight so that is what I am trying to do.
I want to major either in sports medicine or computer science. I am really good with computer. I have been really good with them since I was little.
What will you bring to the table as a freshman?
What I will bring, I think, is an inside/outside game. I am a team guy. I want everybody to do well. I am very versatile. I can score inside and out, go on the other end, and defend and play the two through the four.
How are you physically?
I was once 20 pounds lighter and in the beginning, I am not going to lie to you, I was getting pushed around by bigs and pushed around by small forwards so that has pushed me to get better and more stronger in the weight room. I still have a long way to go in the weight room but I am getting there.
