NC State already has three commitments for the class of 2018 and they’d like nothing more than to add a quarterback to be the centerpiece of the class going forward.
The Pack has already offered Virginia Beach (VA) quarterback Tyler DeSue, DH Conley’s Holton Ahlers and Kennesaw (GA) standout Justin Fields.
Malvern (PA) Prep rising junior Kevin Doyle doesn’t yet own an offer from NC State but he put on a show at the Wolfpack’s camp in June and established himself as a player the Pack will be keeping a close eye on in the months to come.
Doyle spoke with Pack Pride about his experience at NC State.
“I really enjoyed it,” said Doyle. “I really like Raleigh and State has a nice campus. Coach Drinkwitz has a great offense and he’s been a great coach and a great help to me.
“I’m not sure about State offering but they’ve been very supportive of me. Coach Drinkwitz liked the way I played and he’s a great guy so we’ll see. (Coach Drinkwitz) is very much a player’s coach. He’s upbeat, high-fiving everybody. He’s a great coach to be around and if I had an opportunity to play here I’d definitely consider it.
Doyle does hold early offers from Boston College, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Toledo, Temple, Kentucky, Syracuse and Nebraska.
Now closing in on double digit offers, Doyle is in no rush to make a decision and currently lists no favorites.
“I like all the coaches right now and all of the schools are really nice so I’m just going to keep it going. I don’t have a timeline (for a decision). I just want to go through the season and see how it goes.”
