NC State senior running back Matthew Dayes has been named to the preseason watch list for the 80th annual Maxwell Award, while junior defensive end Bradley Chubb is on the list for the 22nd annual Chuck Bednarik Award.

The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937, while the Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995.

Dayes, NC State's career leader in rushing yards per carry with a 5.6 mark, ranks 15th in school history with 1,690 career rushing yards.  Although the Ft. Lauderdale native's junior campaign was cut short with an injury in game 8 last season, he ranks fifth in school history in career rushing touchdowns.  His 30 total career touchdowns are the sixth-best mark ever for a Wolfpack player and he ranks 12th in career points scored (182).

Chubb, a native of Marietta, Ga., started every game in 2015 at defensive end and was the second-leading tackler on the squad with 69 stops.  He also ranked second in tackles for loss (12) and in sacks (5.5) and was the co-recipient of the team's Carey Brewbaker Award for defensive lineman of the year. He was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for the Boston College game after he led the team in tackles with nine in the win.  He also tallied five tackles for loss in that contest - tied as the 10th best mark in school history.
