NC State signee Omer Yurtseven is participating with his native country, Turkey, in the FIBA U20 European Championships. The U20 European Championships is being played in Helsinki, Finland and Turkey is in Group A which also includes Hungary, Germany, and Lithuania.
Yurtseven is playing "up" for his country, as he just turned 18 years old in June and is the youngest player on his team by over a year. He will also be participating for Turkey in the U18 Championships in August.

July 24 Update: Turkey rebounded to take third place, defeating Germany 76-61 as Yurtseven scored 10 points (5-6 FG) and grabbed three boards in 19 minutes.
For the tournament, he led the team in scoring (10.4 ppg), rebounding (5.6 rpg), and blocks (1.4 bpg) while shooting 59% from the field in just 18.2 minutes per game.
July 23 Update: Turkey was upset by Lithuania in the semifinals, and Yurtseven was never a factor. He played just 14 minutes and attempted only one shot in the game.
Turkey must now face Germany in the consolation game for third place.
July 22 Update: Turkey advanced to the semifinals with an 83-72 win over Italy, and Yurtseven was a big reason why.
Playing with a lot of energy, he totaled 11 points (5-9 FG/1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks in just 18 minutes. He was extremely active offensively, totaling nine offensive rebounds. He actually had another basket officially credited to a teammate which would have improved his stat line.

Through five games, Yurtseven is averaging 12.2 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 57% from the field in just 18.5 minutes per game.
July 20 Update: Turkey faced France in the first round of bracket play and was able to escape with an 82-75 win.
Yurtseven led the way once again, totaling a team-high 19 points (8-14 FG/3-7 FT) and a team-high nine rebounds in 22 minutes.
Through four games, he's averaging 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 57.6% from the field in just 18.5 minutes per game.
July 19 Update: Turkey improved to 3-0 in pool play, winning Group A with an 81-64 win over Hungary.
Yurtseven played just 16 minutes but still managed to post 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, and a block.
July 17 Update: Turkey trailed Germany for much of the game before using a huge rally in the fourth quarter to win 67-63 and improve to 2-0 in pool play.
Yurtseven was really good, as he finished with 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-4 FT), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks in 19 minutes. His +22 efficiency rating was the highest mark in the game.
