Concord (NC) Cannon School 2018 forward Jairus Hamilton picked up an offer this summer from NC State, and the four-star prospect has a host of options. He recently added offers from NC State, Miami, and Stanford, and already held offers from Maryland, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina among others.
"I've heard from a lot," said Hamilton. "UNC, Kansas, Kentucky and really everybody. My dad told me he got a lot of calls."
NC State head coach Mark Gottfried extended the offer to Hamilton for the Wolfpack.
"I was very surprised and very happy because it is a great school," Hamilton said. "It is close to my home, but Coach Gottfried had called me up and told me they were offering me and it was really a blessing to receive.
"I had a couple of friends go there a while back so I know it is a good program with great people. [Gottfried] is a good coach too so it is really great to have received the offer from them."
A consensus Top 50 prospect in his class, Hamilton had a chance to show what he could do at the recent NBPA Top 100 Camp. How was his camp experience?
"It is pretty prestigious," Hamilton said of the Charlottesville, Virginia event. "I have always wanted to come out here and try my hardest, to come out here and prove something -- that I have great tools to play basketball -- and I am just thankful that I got here. [I learned] that is not just really about basketball. It is about outside of basketball and being a great person. It is about having great tools. Things can change in an instant. You got keep your head straight and on focus.
"There is still stuff I have got to work on because I have got to get better. It [felt] good to out [there] playing with some good talent."
Hamilton isn't in a rush to make a decision, has no plans for visits, and admits that distance won't play a role in his decision.
"I am very open," he added. "When the time comes, I am just going to sit down with my family and make a decision to figure out where I want to go.
"It is up in the air right now."
