Dayes: "It's A Great Offense"

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NC State senior tailback Matt Dayes met with the media at ACC Football Kickoff.

"We did a lot of great things throwing the ball as well. It's a great offense overall."

"I was nervous about [playing uptempo] at first because of my freshman year, but after going through it in spring ball it was actually a fun offense to play in.  It was more effective than what it was my freshman year when we had that type of offense."

"It was more effective, the ball was getting there, and everyone had great timing... my freshman year a lot of different players were freshmen and they didn't have the timing with the quarterbacks."

"Now that we have that chemistry with the quarterbacks and the o-line this type of offense definitely fits us now."

"We put a lot of work in the offseason... on Saturdays and Sundays we're catching the ball with them.  No matter who is the quarterback, we'll have great chemistry."

"I think all three of those guys can run the ball actually. I don't think it really matters."

"Every year I felt like we had a chance to beat [Clemson and Florida State]. It's just holding on and fighting a little harder... and not hurting myself.  We'll have a great opportunity to beat those guys."

"I'm not really looking forward to [the trip to Clemson].  It's like a 45-minute drive from the airport to Clemson... that's the only thing I don't look forward to about it. I like playing in their stadium.  It's fun. I'm looking forward to that."

"That's absolutely true.  I hate the spotlight. I want to do all the great things, but I'd rather somebody else have the spotlight."

"Annabelle has been helping me with this stuff.  She's like it all comes with football.  I'm taking it in... enjoy the moment, enjoy all the interviews. Not everyone gets to do it.  I'm trying to look at it as a positive."

"It's not difficult. I think I can talk well... it's just doing it.  I don't really want to do it, but I'm having fun today. It's a great opportunity."

"[I'd rather be] catching balls with our receivers right now. That would probably be more enjoyable."

"They all bring something a little bit different to the table. They are a great group of guys.  Whoever the coaches decide to go with, we'll be fine.  I'm not worried about that situation at all."

"[Ryan Finley] is a likeable guy.  He's easy to talk to. As soon as he came, he was over at my house, hanging out and stuff, along with Joe Scelfo. I tried to look after those guys."

"[Finley is] a great player... all three of them are, but Finley, we watch film together and stuff."

"[Adding Joe Scelfo] is huge. That was huge for us.  We're thankful for him choosing us. We'll have a great opportunity this season with this line we'll have."

"That is a good idea, but he already ran with it.  I can't steal that now."

"You definitely want to go out there and put on a show that day."

"It would be a great day."

"[Playing in Carter-Finley Stadium] is awesome... I can't even explain it. I love playing in that stadium. There's no other stadium I'd rather play in. I love it."
