After numerous combines, camps, film evaluation and input from coaches, Pack Pride breaks down the top 40 football prospects in the state of North Carolina. Today we take a look at #31-40 in the rankings.
NOTES...Speas is one of the more under rated offensive linemen in the state. He is somewhat undersized now but has solid upside and performed extremely well at NC State's summer camp. The Pack didn't immediately offer and he committed to Virginia. State has since offered and should receive an official visit later in the year.
NOTES...Clement has battled through some injury issues but performed well enough at NC State's camp to solidify a Wolfpack offer and he wasted little time in deciding to join the Pack. Clement also reported offers from Virginia Tech, UNC and Tennessee among others.
NOTES...NC State appeared to be a strong player for Crowell for some time but family ties to Virginia ultimately lead him to commit to the Cavs earlier in the year.
NOTES...NC State was one of the first to offer Hall and appeared to be in line for a commitment early in the process. However, the Pack decided to forego taking a tight end in the class of 2017 and moved on. Hall received a firm offer from Oklahoma and committed to the Sooners earlier in the year.
NOTES...Monroe is a hard-nosed player and a solid pickup for Wake Forest at middle linebacker. Monroe also claimed offers from East Carolina, West Virginia, Illinois and Kentucky among others. NC State did not offer and was never seriously involved.
NOTES...Cone is a little undersized (5-8) at corner but he's aggressive with great fundamentals. He held offers from Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest among others but committed to Wisconsin back in May after a visit to see the Badgers in person.
NOTES...NC State offered and appeared very close to landing Hooker but Wakefield QB Matt McKay beat him to the punch. Hooker ultimately chose Virginia Tech. He is a decent quarterback but a better athlete that has been very productive on the high school level.
NOTES...Dickerson is a versatile, athletic prospect who claimed offers from NC State, South Carolina, East Carolina and Virginia but committed to the Gamecocks in June. State received several visits but could never gain any traction with Dickerson.
NOTES...McKay was an NC State priority for the class of 2017 and landed a commitment from him back in February. McKay has made huge strides physically over the past year and looks brilliant at times. He is also very athletic and will now need to work on consistency.
NOTES...Darden may be one of the most over looked players in the state- likely because of his very early commitment to NC State. He has really developed physically and he could grow into a big time tight end for the Wolfpack.
