With 16 commitments, NC State may take 4-5 more players in the class of 2017 with the focus being on offensive tackle, defensive tackle, defensive end and safety. Pack Pride breaks down 10 prospects showing the most interest in the Wolfpack. The players are not listed in any particular order.
NOTES...Speas is a Virginia commit but does have NC State under consideration and has stated recently that he will officially visit the Wolfpack.
NOTES...The Pack is Jeanty's biggest offer currently and we feel pretty confident that the Pack leads for him. We'll have to see if other schools become involved which could potentially muddy the waters.
NOTES...State has offered Gill and likes him as an offensive tackle. However, he prefers defensive tackle so that could ultimately put the Pack at a severe disadvantage.
NOTES...State has maintained a spot in Hunt's top seven for months but he hasn't visited in quite a while and that's cause for concern. He stated recently that he could make his decision after making an official visit to Syracuse. We believe Virginia Tech or Virginia are the teams to beat.
NOTES...Not much has changed in regards to Butler's recruitment over the last several weeks. He continues to favor NC State, Duke, Tennessee and South Carolina. At this point we could realistically see him choosing any of those schools. A decision could come in October.
NOTES...James is a recent addition to the board. He committed to Kansas back in June over a host of smaller school offers. He told Pack Pride that he has serious interest in the Wolfpack and plans to officially visit later in the year.
NOTES...NC State has offered and Zayas has expressed interest in the Wolfpack but Louisville has lead consistently for his commitment. The Pack has to figure out a way to overcome the Card's apparent lead.
NOTES...Jackson recently listed a top five that included Texas, Southern Cal, NC State, Louisville and Illinois. You never know how things will go but Jackson's recruitment seems to be taking on the same feeling as Shug Frazier's from a year ago.
NOTES...Owusu visited NC State for the Alpha Wolf Showcase and he has serious interest in the Pack and he recently tweeted out a top seven that included NC State. Although he hasn't mentioned it publicly we think Virginia maybe the team to beat.
NOTES...NC State continues to hang around for Robinson after hosting him on an unofficial visit over the summer. We've heard that Clemson has moved on which leaves South Carolina as one of the primary threats. If State doesn't fill up at this position, the Pack's best chance is for this to drag out.null
