NC State could have potentially as many as nine scholarships available for the 2017 recruiting class so the Wolfpack is pursuing a large group of prospects, and several targets are on Scout.com's updated list of top 100 prospects, which was released today.
In the 2017 class, point guard remains a priority, and Nick Weatherspoon was recently bumped up to a five-star recruit and the No. 26 player in the class. Weatherspoon, the nation's fifth-best point guard, is considering several schools but many believe Mississippi State and NC State are his leaders.
Weatherspoon isn't the Wolfpack's only five-star point guard target, as State's in the mix for elite scorer Collin Sexton. One of the top risers from the summer, Sexton checks in at No. 10 overall in the class and is considered the second-best point guard.
Oak Hill (VA) star point guard Matt Coleman (No. 35), who continues to list NC State, also made the list.
On the wing, NC State is in really good shape with Chuck O'Bannon Jr., the nation's No. 82 recruit per Scout.com. Other wing targets ranked include: Jase Febres (No. 47), Josh Anderson (No. 50),Savion Flagg (No. 55), and Alex O'Connell (No. 62).
The Wolfpack will be working to add depth in the frontcourt, and is currently hosting center Nate Watson, who is rated No. 63 overall and the No. 15 center in the country.
NC State also remains involved with elite combo forward P.J. Washington. The Bishop Gorman (NV) star is rated a five-star prospect and No. 14 overall by Scout.com.
