POSTGAME: Abu, Henderson Discuss The Win

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State's Abdul-Malik Abu and Terry Henderson met with the media after the win over Fairfield.

"I like it a lot. We're probably playing a deeper rotation that at anytime, and it gives me a chance to play fresh, root on your teammates. It changes our mindset. I think in college basketball kids want to do well individually because that's your dream.  We're making the transition to cheer. Omer scores, BeeJay scores, Ted scores, and I score... he's playing everybody, we can play fresh, it's a good feeling."

"I go through the ups and downs... I try to stay in the gym and wait for my moment."

"We needed that last one, huh?"

"We got that win, that's all we care about."

"We know what we are capable of, and coach G is looking out there to see what guys can do. He's playing guys through mistakes... he's not yanking them as quick as he used to yank me and BeeJay when we were young, but it's all grown because we'll need them."

"I feel like we're a special team."

"It was a good win. Curtis and Tyler are from Massachusetts so I'm familiar with them."

"We'll need them. We have to build their confidence. Omer is only two games into college basketball ever? He's a special talent... we're going to need him."

"I didn't know he touched it, but the replay was a little close."

"I feel like there's a lot of guys that can do it. I don't know how many have scored 25-plus on our team, but we have a talented roster."

"I think Terry has played fantastic.  He's playing hungry... I'm proud he can go out there and showcase his abilities."

"We knew it was going to be a fast-paced team... they are a run-and-gun team so we knew what it would be like coming in."

"We let them cut it to nine or seven, which no one was happy about, but overall I feel we played pretty well."

"That's what we pride ourselves on.  We're going to bring it to the other team, 40 minutes. We're not taking possessions off. We're much deeper now so if someone is lacking or not doing what they are supposed to do, it's the next man's time to step in and fill that role."

"Other than that, we want to keep our foot on the pedal and show no mercy out there."

"Anytime a team is playing zone, a shooter gets happier. I knew I'd get open looks. Coach Early, we were working on that in practice... getting our feet set, holding the follow through."

"We accepted the challenge and kept moving forward."

"I grade our defense probably a B- or C+. I feel like in the second half we didn't take care of the things we needed to do."

"When they cut it to single digits, that whole time frame wasn't good for us."

"It's great. I love having a team with great depth... that's going to be one of the keys to our team."

"We have to keep putting it together."

"Everybody has played with each other already and everybody knows what we expect of each other. As long as we hold each other accountable, we should be fine."
