FB Jaylen Samuels
On whether he expected to have the performance he had:
I’ve been preparing myself ever since the last game to have a big game in the bowl game. Coach (Eliah Drinkwitz) called great plays, my wide receivers and O-line were blocking. We just executed.
DE Bradley Chubb
On NC State’s defensive game plan:
We knew what they were going to do, that they pride themselves on the run game. We knew it coming in. They tried to run the ball, and they got some plays on us. We had to stick together and make sure those big plays didn’t turn into touchdowns.
KR Nyheim Hines
On his 100-yard KO return touchdown:
It seems like kickoff returns showed up for us every time we needed it. I just want to give props to all the guys out there, guys like Bra’Lon Cherry, who have been taking shots for me the past two years I’ve been on kickoff return. It’s always good to repay those guys with a touchdown.
On if he hit top speed on the TD return:
I reached top speed. I was definitely trying to get ready for indoor track in January. I just try to stay in my lane, look back every now and then. I try to keep my speed as long as I can.
QB Ryan Finley
On what he takes away from the win:
(There are) a lot of positives to take away from tonight. Momentum going into the spring is a big deal for this program. Just making a bowl game, all those extra practices you get, for the developmental guys and for the vets are very important. We’re excited, but the real work starts now for us to accomplish our goals next season. This win is definitely a springboard for us.
On having Samuels as an offensive weapon:
Just get him the ball as much as possible. We call it J-Sam time. Sometimes it’s J-Sam time. Even if he’s covered, just throw him the ball.
LB Airius Moore
On whether his group is underrated:
No. We just do our job, and try do the best we can to help the defense. We play behind a great defensive line, and they open up holes for us to run through. We just try to do our job.
