NC State will face a robust six-game home schedule in 2017, the Atlantic Coast Conference office announced today. Not only will the Wolfpack play host to the defending national champions, but the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner and rival UNC-Chapel Hill will also visit Carter-Finley Stadium.
Head coach Dave Doeren's fifth Wolfpack squad will open the season on Sept. 2 against SEC opponent South Carolina in the Belk College Kickoff Game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. After that nationally-televised contest, the Wolfpack will host non-conference games against Conference USA opponent Marshall and Southern Conference foe Furman on Sept. 9 and 16 respectively.
Syracuse will visit Carter-Finley Stadium on Sept. 30. Five days later, the Louisville Cardinals and 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson will come to Raleigh for a Thursday night clash on ESPN. The Pack will have the home field advantage against defending national champion Clemson on Nov. 4 and will close out the regular season by hosting UNC on Nov. 25, two days after Thanksgiving.
The Pack will open ACC play on the road at Florida State on Sept. 23, and will also travel to Pitt (Oct. 14), Boston College (Nov. 11) and Wake Forest (Nov. 18) in league action. On Oct. 28, NC State will make its first trip to South Bend, Indiana, to take on Notre Dame for its final non-conference clash of 2017.
In all, NC State will face eight teams that played in postseason bowls last season.
Dates for Homecoming, Parents & Families Weekend and Military Appreciation Day will be released at a later date, as will other promotions.
