Four members of the last season's Wolfpack football squad have been named to the 2016 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Football Team according to the league office. Three returning players - offensive guard Garrett Bradbury, quarterback Ryan Finley, and linebacker Airius Moore - made the list, while graduated center Joseph Scelfo was also honored.
Moore, a rising senior, earned a mention on the academic all-conference squad for the second time in his career. The social work major led the team in tackles last season and was named the Defensive MVP after the Wolfpack's win over Vanderbilt in the 2016 Independence Bowl.
The Wolfpack's starting quarterback in every game of 2016, Finley earned his degree before coming to NC State last summer and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in liberal arts. He earned a 3.889 GPA for the fall semester after posting the sixth-best single-season passing total in school history (3,059 yards).
Bradbury started every game at offensive guard for the Wolfpack last season, helping lead the "Band of Brothers" to the nation's 19th-best mark in sacks allowed. The operations/supply chain management major earned a 3.667 GPA for the fall semester and was named to the Dean's List at NC State. He was also the recipient of the Independence Bowl's scholar-athlete award.
Scelfo was also a postgraduate for the Wolfpack in 2016, pursuing a postgraduate degree in youth, family and community services. He was an honorable mention All-ACC performer after playing almost every offensive snap of the season in his first year with the program.
To be eligible for consideration to the squad, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. A student-athlete in graduate school must maintain a 3.5 grade point average.
