NC State Denies Report Of Gottfried Firing

WTVD reported Monday that NC State head coach Mark Gottfried would be fired after the season and that a preliminary approach has been made to Dayton head coach Archie Miller.

WTVD's Mark Armstrong reported Monday that NC State has "definitively decided" to dismiss men's basketball head coach Mark Gottfried after the conclusion of the 2016-17 season. Armstrong added that he was told that the University almost let Gottfried go after the Wolfpack's lopsided loss at Wake Forest Saturday but administrators ultimately decided to wait until NC State's season ended.

According to Armstrong, a source also indicated that NC State has made an approach to Dayton head coach Archie Miller, an alumni of the school.
