NC State has released the following statement on freshman point guard Markell Johnson who suffered a knee injury in the loss at Clemson.
"NC State men’s basketball freshman guard Markell Johnson underwent an MRI Thursday evening after suffering a hyperextension injury in the Pack’s game at Clemson on Wednesday, March 1.
"Johnson has a left knee sprain and a bone bruise. He is currently listed as day-to-day. He will make the trip to Brooklyn with the team and his availability for NC State’s first round game in the ACC Tournament will be a game-time decision."
Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 164-pound freshman, is averaging 4.0 points and 2.3 assists per game. His playing time had picked up recently, having averaged 30+ minutes per game in the three matchups prior to Clemson.
