NC State received huge news today when Timber Creek (NJ) four-star quarterback Devin Leary announced his commitment to the Wolfpack.
Leary was named New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year after setting state records for touchdowns (48) and passing yards (3,688). He threw just four interceptions and completed 198-of-316 passes while leading Timber Creek to a 12-0 record and a second straight South Jersey Group 4 championship.
He is currently rated the No. 19 quarterback in the 2018 class by Scout.com.
"Leary is smart and knows the offense inside and out," says Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn. "He makes calls at the line of scrimmage, and his pre-snap reads are on point. Once the ball is snapped, he really shows his ability. Leary has strong mechanics, and he gets rid of the ball quickly and is accurate.
"His arm strength is above average, he spins the ball well and he fits passes into some very tight windows. Leary also throws with touch on intermediate throws, he looks off the safety on deep passes and he is very accurate. Leary can throw a beautiful raindrop deep ball, and even on short patterns, he puts the ball in perfect position for the receiver to catch it in stride and make a play. He also was accurate throwing on the move."
Leary held offers from NC State, Rutgers, Maryland, Baylor, Minnesota, Syracuse, West Virginia, Boston College, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, and Wake Forest among others.
Pack Pride will have more from Leary on his decision so stay tuned!
