There are a lot of college football coaches that would be happy to bring Kyle Dobbins into their programs, NC State included. Fortunately for the Pack, Dobbins has family connections to North Carolina and recently State hosted the three-star running back on an unofficial visit.
"I have family in the state so that makes the school (interesting)," said Dobbins this week.
Dobbins said his family in North Carolina is in the Charlotte area and he has visited before. He likes the state and not only that but he likes what he knows about NC State. "It has a nice campus," he said.
He also said that he likes the football program and believes it is moving in the right direction under Dave Doeren.
Dobbins (5-10, 185) visited State in the last month and would not be against another trip to the school but nothing is planned. While Dobbins was in the state he also visited North Carolina. Dobbins visited Temple two weekends ago for the Owls spring game. Before that Dobbins went to a Rutgers Junior Day.
George McDonald is recruiting Dobbins for NC State and the two are still getting to know each other but Dobbins is happy with where the relationship is at for now.
Boston College and North Carolina are State's ACC rivals that have offered. Northwestern and Rutgers have offered out of the Big Ten.
Dobbins was one of the participants at The Opening in New Jersey a couple weeks ago.
Although Dobbins does not have one favorite he did recently say that NC State, North Carolina, Rutgers and Temple are his favorites. He tweeted out recently that a decision could come in the near future.
Dobbins rushed for 1,282 yards and 17 touchdowns on 167 carries as a junior at St. Augustine in 2016. The previous year as a sophomore Dobbins rushed for 1,613 yards and 19 touchdowns on 169 carries. As a freshman on the varsity team Dobbins had 638 rushing yards.
