NC State landed a huge commitment today when Clayton (NC) wide receiver Devin Carter verbally committed to the Wolfpack. He confirmed his commitment via text message.
Carter, who checks in at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, is one of the state's top players. He totaled 85 receptions for 1,273 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior, which led to offers from NC State, Michigan State, Wake Forest, Minnesota, and East Carolina among others.
He turned heads last weekend with his performance at The Opening Charlotte. Carter ran a laser-timed 4.78 40-yard dash and also posted a 4.38 shuttle and 32.4 vertical jump. He really impressed during one-on-ones where he used his size, strength, and hands to consistently beat defenders.
"Carter used his size and strength to overpower defensive backs," said Scout.com Recruiting Analyst John Garcia. "He also showed great concentration and caught everything thrown his way."
Carter is NC State's fifth commitment in the 2018 recruiting class, as he joins four-star quarterback Devin Leary, four-star athlete Ricky Person, three-star cornerback De'Von Graves, and standout kicker Chris Dunn.
Carter is currently rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
Pack Pride will have more on his decision shortly so stay tuned!
