Rock Hill (SC) South Pointe linebacker Elijah Adams (6-0, 230 pounds) has earned his fair share of recruiting interest but his performance at last weekend's Nike Camp established him as one of the top linebacker prospects in the southeast and promptly landed him additional offers from Kansas State, UNC-Charlotte and Virginia Tech.
Prior to those three offers, Adams already held several scholarship pledges and Pack Pride caught up with him for the latest on his recruiting.
"I've got the offers from NC State, South Carolina, Maryland and East Carolina. I guess other schools are out there interested in me and I'm trying to make my decision by the beginning of the summer but if not then, it will be the end of the summer. I'm going to visit all the schools that have offered me and then the schools that are interested in me and then I'll be making my decision."
One of the teams Adams has been particularly interested is South Carolina and he detailed his interest in the Gamecocks.
"South Carolina is nice. That's where I grew up at. Of course, I like everything about it. Actually, I grew up liking South Carolina because my dad liked South Carolina but growing up on my own I liked Alabama just because of their defense and I'm a defensive type of guy."
No one has recruited Adams harder than NC State and he's already made one visit to see the Pack in person.
"With NC State, coach Faulkner is recruiting me. I visited them and that's when they offered me. I've got a teammate up there, Nick McCloud. He's a starting defensive back. I like the coaching staff. Me and Nick, we talk and he tells me how it is up there. He loves it up there and we keep in contact all the time."
Maryland is another team he hopes to see in the near future.
"As for Maryland I'm trying to get up there for a visit, but I've had some stuff going on where I couldn't go but I'm planning to get up there soon."
Adams plans to make several summertime visits and hopes to have a decision shortly after those trips are completed. For now he knows exactly which team seems to want him the most headed into those visits.
"I don't have any favorites right now. I'm just keeping my eyes open to all the schools. I would say though right now that NC State is recruiting me the hardest and showing the most love. We keep in contact almost every other day."
