Five Named To Athlon's Preseason All-ACC Teams

Athlon Sports released their 2017 All-ACC teams and five NC State players made the teams.

Athlon Sports released their 2017 All-ACC teams, and five NC State players made the teams with three earning first-team recognition.

Senior Jaylen Samuels was named first-team All-Purpose Back.  One of the league's most dangerous players, Samuels ranks sixth in school history with 31 career touchdowns and is tied for sixth in school history with 15 receiving touchdowns... he's also tied for 13th with 16 rushing touchdowns.

Last year he led the Wolfpack in receptions (55) and for his career he's averaging 6.7 yards per carry, which would be a school record if he had enough carries to qualify.

Junior Nyheim Hines made the teams twice, as he was named third-team All-Purpose Back and also fourth-team Kick Returner.  Hines, who could open the season as the Wolfpack's starting tailback, ranks fifth in school history with 1,702 career kickoff return yards, just 25 games into his career, and he has tallied 2,770 all-purpose yards for his career.

Senior Tony Adams was named first-team Center.  A three-year starter, Adams is the most experienced player on the team with 35 career starts and 2,472 career snaps.  Last year he was named second-team All-ACC by the coaches and media and didn't allow a sack all season.

The Wolfpack's other first-team selection was defensive end Bradley Chubb.  A third-team All-ACC pick by the media last year, Chubb has been tabbed one of the league's top returning players after ending last year ranked fourth in the FBS in tackles for loss (22) and second in the ACC. He led the country in the category at the end of the regular season, and his 22 tackles for loss was the second-best mark in school history.  Only No. 1 NFL draft pick Mario Williams had more in a season for the Pack.

Chubb ranked fourth in the ACC in sacks (10.5) and was tabbed a second-team All-ACC pick by the coaches.

Joining him on the teams was fellow senior defensive lineman B.J. Hill.  The Wolfpack's anchor inside, Hill was a fourth-team preseason All-ACC pick by Athlon Sports.  His 31 career starts leads the Wolfpack defense and only trails Adams on the team.
