Lemarte McGhee knows his way around the NC State locker room. Being the first commit from the class of 2004, he has had plenty of chances to take in the Wolfpack program. On Saturday he made his eleventh trip to Carter-Finley and the NC State campus.
We asked Lemarte if he was able to meet any new players or coaches on his most recent trip. "I was able to get to the locker room, and I already know most of the players. They were just showing me around. I basically have met all the coaches. I have been there eleven times."
Being the veteran of Wolfpack recruiting trips, we asked McGhee about how some of the other recruits were viewing NC State as a program right now. "I talked to some recruits and they say they want State to get better before they come here. Some say they want a starting position. They don't want to redshirt."
Lemarte was able to see one of the top Pack prospects at running back. "George Bell. I talked to him. He really doesn't know where he wants to go. He told me he wasn't sure about State because of all the running backs they have like T.A. He wants to go where he can get some playing time."
McGhee also took note of the Wolfpack defense on Saturday and the 681 yards that Texas Tech rolled up on the Pack. "The defense? What defense? Hopefully I will be able to get a starting spot. That's what I want."
Person High School is off to a 3-2 start. McGhee also told StateFans that he is now grown to 6'7". In previous reports, sources at Person say Lemarte has the potential to gain more weight without losing speed. Some see him playing in college at 295 pounds.
