Brown Having a Huge Year

At 6-foot-1 and 215, Greenville (N.C.) Rose standout running back Andre Brown is having an excellent senior season.

"We're 6-1 so far and I've got about 15 (hundred) yards and 17 scores," Brown said. "I've been tearing it up out there, just having a lot of fun."

Fun is something college coaches think about when evaluating Brown's game. He has lots of interest right now.

"It's calmed down some since I told some of the coaches that I'm not interested in their school," he said. "The schools that I'm interested in all call every week. They are Virginia, N.C. State, Tennessee, Miami, and Nebraska."

The talented runner talked about each of his favorites. "I went on a visit to Virginia and had a great time," he said. "I liked the people there and it was a real nice college. I think I fit in there. I've been to (NC) State before for unofficial visits. It's close to home and it's in a big city. I also like their new facilities. Nebraska, they run the ball. In one game this year, they had 70 runs. As a running back, you gotta love that. Tennessee's got a lot of tradition. Miami, they actually want me to play wideout."

Brown talked more about the Hurricanes and his interest in playing another position in college. "The thing about Miami is they have speed," he said. "That's what wins and they know how to do that. Plus, they're coming to the ACC next year. It's a really strong program and there's lots of competition there so I know I'd leave a much better player. Playing receiver wouldn't matter to me, as long as I play and get the ball."

Brown, who has 12 receptions for 205 yards and two scores out of the backfield this season, said he does not have a favorite right now. "Those will be the ones I visit," he said. "I don't have the other ones set up yet but I'll know where I want to go after I take them."
