Herrod has Favorites

Donte Herrod recently talked recruiting with StateFans and it appears NC State is heavily in the mix for the Washington DC defensive back. Herrod says he has a top five and names a top two in this exclusive interview.

Donte Herrod has five schools that has peaked his interest during his recruiting process. The Pack finds themselves in the midst of colleges that the Washington DC player is considering.

"NC State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Marshall and Michigan State are my top 5. I have not set up any visits yet because we play every week now."

It was rumored in September that Donte had committed to the Orangeman, but that seems too of originated from the internet and not from the DB's mouth.

"That was wrong. At first it (the rumor) was down here in the local newspaper. They said it was from the internet."

The fact that the rumor was false could be a good sign for the Pack, who has some ties with the athletic director at Woodson High School. "They have a good program. Coach Portee and our athletic director went to school together."

Herrod hopes Woodson makes the championship game. Not only for his team, but he also would like to make an announcement at the game.

"I would say NC State and Virginia Tech are my favorites. If we make it to the championship game, I would like to announce after the game."

Donte is having a nice senior season for the 4-3 Cavaliers. "I have 35 or 40 tackles and two interceptions. I can cover and I can come up at stop the run."
